Jian Li is based in Seoul, South Korea, currently working as a manager a= t SK Telecom (SKT). Jian received his Ph.D degree from POSTECH in 2016. His= research is in the area of Software-Defined Networks (SDN), mainly focuses= on control plane management. Jian started his career with ON.Lab through h= is internship in November 2015. After finishing his internship, he started = working as an open source developer for ON.Lab during 2016 - 2017, and the = same period he worked as a Post-doctoral researcher and research assistant = professor at POSTECH. Jian is currently serving as a chair of ONOS/CORD Wor= king Group under SDN/NFV forum Korea. He designed and implemented various f= eatures on top of Open Network Operating System (ONOS) such as Control Plane Manager (CPMan), Locator/Identifier Separation Protocol (LISP) mapping sy= stem support and gRPC northbound interface. Now, he is con= tributing code to Simple Overlay Network Ar= chitecture (SONA) project. Jian Li has participated various conferences= and workshops to present research papers. In addition, he has organized va= rious ONOS events to promote ONOS to Korean SDN community. The detailed inf= ormation can be found in linkedin. https://www.linkedin.= com/in/gunine/
Jian has been working in the Ambassador program since Q1 20= 16. He was elected as an A-team member in 2016.
Followings are the contributions made for Ambassador progra= m.
Jian is currently mentoring 14 Ambassadors mostly in Asian = region. Moreover, he is actively engaging with local ONOS/CORD community me= mbers, organizing ONOS/CORD meetup in Korea.
I think I can be a good A-team candidate, because I do not = only have the technical background of ONOS/CORD project which makes me conf= ident to promote and discuss about ONOS/CORD project with community members= , but also I am a multilingual speaker (Chinese, Korean, English, Japanese)= , this mitigates the language barrier with Asian community members, and all= ows me to discuss in depth on ONOS/CORD project with local languages.
I think our program has a good start and I believe the comm= unity will grow even bigger in near future. To be a person from service pro= vider, I think I would promote this program internally, and make this progr= am be more transparent and open to the people from service provider. For th= e people who are not familiar with ONOS and CORD, it is difficult to learn = those projects from scratch. By aligning with local community, I plan to or= ganize a set of tutorials and hands-on to help people be familiar with ONOS= /CORD. I also plan to reach-out to other open source communities like Kuber= netes and OpenStack to promote ONOS/CORD project to the larger number of de= velopers and operators.
