Nominee’s bio

I am Alexis Munyandekwe, currently working in Professional Services as Technical Lead on Cloud Computing services. My interests on SDN started from 2015. Since February 2016 I have been involved in ONOS community, first as a contributor, then as ambassador. I also contribute to ONOS through Teaching Brigade. More about my bio can be seen on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ndekwe/

How long have been working in the Ambassador Program?

Since November 2016, after the very first ONOS Build.

What contributions have you made in the past to the Ambassador Program?

As an ambassador, I have contributed by co-organizing and presenting during an ONOS meetup in Paris, May 2017. I also became a mentor and have since participated in recruiting and supporting ambassadors I mentor in their activities related to events organization, budgeting, content preparation, etc.

What are you actively working on in the Ambassador Program?

I evangelize about ONOS/CORD projects and I am currently mentoring 5 ambassadors.

Why do you feel you would be a good candidate for this position?

With an experience of more than a year in the Ambassador Program, I have noticed the great benefits of the program to the community. Since I became a mentor, I was able to suggest some ideas to A-Team, especially related to Ambassadors recruitment and on-boarding process. As some of those ideas were well received by the team, it makes me feel I can be a good candidate for this position. Also the fact that I have an experience of living/working in Europe, Africa and Asia allows me to establish connections easily and to work with people from different backgrounds to grow, at its highest, the Ambassadors Program.

Are there any changes you would like to bring to the community if elected into this position?

Since accelerating ONOS/CORD evangelisation is one of my top priority in the ambassador program, if I am elected into this position, I would push for the implementation, together with members of A-Team, of ideas I once suggested of creating incentives for top new contributors from academic and professional world. These incentives can be provided on ONOS/CORD competitions we would organize in different parts of the world. The competitions would be supervised by ambassadors or other members from the community. The examples of some of the considered incentives for the winners range from short scholarships to stay at Menlo Park with the core developing team to the invitation to participate in ONOS/CORD Builds. I believe this kind of encouragement would allow ONOS/CORD projects to solidify and expand their foundation in many parts of the world. Some other improvements I would like to bring to the program are related to ambassadors recruitment and on-boarding processes and pushing for the creation of special program for regions that do not have yet ambassadors.
