SONA is the optimized multi-tenant network virtualization service for OpenStackCloud-based Cloud data center. Basically, it implements OpenStack Neutron's ML2 mechanism driver and L3 service plugin for ONOS, that is, so it can be used to provision isolated create virtual private networks and connect routing them through a routingOpenStack Neutron. It leverages VXLAN based overlay networks to provision a virtual network but in an optimized way. It also provides scalability of gateway device, which acts as a connection point between virtual networks and outside of the world. Gateway device can be OVS or dedicated hardware.
